Default Eiger owners, please help....big problems.....

I have a 2002 Eiger 4x4 manual. I was riding with a friend and we did a little creek riding. It was the best time ever.....except for the way back. I had it in 4x4 going down this trail when all of a sudden it came to a hault...very quick like, for some reason I thought I did something with the gears, so I fired it up again. I went about 10 feet and stopped to look at it and noticed an oil trail behind me. Yep, I hit a rock dead on the drain bolt for the oil, cracked it around it. Well, I got pulled back to the truck, loaded it up and came home. I ordered a new cover bold, O-ring etc. In the mean time, I JB welded the crack, and put oil in it, this whole time I am think I completely blew the motor. So I crank it and of course the knocking began and then it eased off. Now it runs and idles perfectly, but whenever I give it gas, it rattles on the bottom but not high into the revs, but yet I can here the rattle get faster when reving. but the knocking isnt fast when it revs and I can hear the rattle as it revs down toward the end right before idle. What do you think I have done to the quad??? Cuz it came to a HAULT quick. But it seems fine except for that rattle, is it the valves or is it something else?? If I didnt explain it well enough just ask in another way to know what to tell you. Any info woudl be greatly appreciated, I've had the quad for 2 years and have no complaints, its been to tellico 3 times and went everywhere I've wanted to go, along with my other quad. Thanks in advance!!

When you say it came too a hault quik! Did the engine just shut down or did it feel like everything bound or locked up? You say you started it again so it does'nt sound like the motor locked up but does sound like something in the tranny locked.

Did you ride it after you put oil back in it? My 02 has been noisy from day 1, it always sounds like it is knocking. Was there any metal on the magnetic drain plug? Is it smoking? Did you change the filter?

I would check for shifting problems or noise from the tranny. Warm it up and see if the noise gets worse!

actually, there is no smoke at all, and when it came to a hault, it was as if you were riding along and you turned the key off while in gear, it didnt quite feel like anything locked up. I checked all around the oil cover area and there was no metal. There is no power loss, no smoke etc. just the sound of knocking like the second you give it gas, but it absolutely goes away as it starts to increase in RPM's. This will sound strange, but it actually sounds "better" in the higher RPM's now. Ive ridden it twice since filling it back up with oil. The tranny seems to be the same as it always was. After I let oil circulate through it, the noise seem to get less and less, but you can still here that knock at low RPM. The only difference I can hear, compared to how it was before, is that knock at low RPM. But at idle, it sounds like it would on the showroom floor. and while at riding speed it sounds absolutely fine, but when you give it gas reall hard, that knocked happens till it speeds up. Thanks very much for your help!

How much oil did it take too fill it? I'm not sure if it has a low oil shut off switch or not. I'm not sure if the oil temp sensor would shut it down also, but depending on how loud the knocking is I would'nt worry too much like I said before mine knocks on acceleration all the time 2600 miles.

As long as you didn't run it till it locked up change the oil again and keep riding

It took around 4 quartz, giver or take, filled it till the stick read perfectly!! But it knocked, but this is like more or a rattle, do you think the valves could have been knocked out of adjustment?? Everything seems fine, but I'm thinking the valves are off!!
