need advice-getting another 4x4
although i'm loving my new 650i, we're in the market for another four wheeler. we're selling our old 300 honda 4x4 and getting a newer (but still used) four wheeler. it's for my younger brother who is 18. we were thinking about vinson 500 manual, prarie 700 or suz twin peaks 700(same thing right?) any other suggestions for a fast fun quad. irs can go either way, would love a diff lock up front or at least a good stock diff. would prefer a 4x4 you can switch into without moving. that way we can play till we get stuck in 2wd and get ourself out. with my new brute, you have to switch ahead of time. that's not the most important feature though.
so i have two questions
1. can you think of any other quads we should also be looking at, maybe polaris 500? another?
2. what can you tell me pros and cons wise of these two quads? like will chip wake one up soo much it's worth getting (like the kind quad 700 suppose to be a beast chip when it comes out) any little thing you can tell me would be helpful.
also if i did get a vinson, are there certain years which have more features or more power/better gearing.
please bore me with too much info. that's what we need. thanks alot, jason

I have an LT500 Quadrunner....2002...the thing has NEVER failed me...Mud, trails, rocks, anything......
It has 4X4 2X4 switch over and a high/low option...5 speed shift, no clutching neccessary...
If you can find one of these you'll get a great deal on a super durable quad

I would recommend the can am models to you if you are really going to spend money on something new becuase they are like the cadillac of atv's...But if you don't want to spend that much I would recommend a King Quad 700 and they are supposed to be coming out with a vdi pretty soon and it will wake it up pretty nicely.

The Prairie 700/TP 700 would be A LOT more fun than the Vinson. You'd get A LOT more power with the 700cc V-twin vs. a 500cc single, plus a front locker. All the Big bore Kawi's have that same poor 4wd actuator, so your outta luck there, the p 700/ TP 700 would be the same as your 650i.
The P 700 really turns into a muscle quad with a module on it, such as the CDI from VDI, They've got video's on their site of a P 700 doing wheelies like crazy, and burnout's on dry ashphalt, with their CDI as the only mod, that 697cc V-twin puts out some serious power. Stock vs. stock it whips up on the King Quad in drags.
I wouldn't recommend a Polaris sportsman, ecpecially if buying used, they had alot of quality issues till about 2004, have since then improved though, plus they're heavy and slow(my 2004 425cc sportsman was a snail speed wise.)
Definitely go for the Kawi V-twin 700 IMO, it has the Vinson beat in probably every category...ecspecially in the power department. If you wanted to get the Vinson though...the 5 speed is faster than the Auto...but they don't make a module for it...and remember NONE of the Vinson's have a front locker.
