250 Quadracer
#1
Hi,
I am considering buying an '82 Quadracer. I'm not familiar with the Quadracer... Is it a reliable bike? What is the top speed? The guy wants me to make an offer. What should I ask? This one appears to be in good shape having never been raced.

If your talking about the Lt250r two stroke.Yes its a great bike I think 91-92 where the best years since they had a 6th gear better suspension design and Powervalve. No mater what your buying have some one good with quads like a mechanic inspect it first!I love mine, although mine wasnt reliable at first because it was raced and abused. Once I got the bugs out it worked great and still does.
You can see my Lt250r and other great quads at my web page! http://www.screaminglt250r.homestead.com
1991 Lt250r :
Ceet seat cover,DG alloy front bumper,DG alloy rear grabar,DG alloy nerf bars ,Emgo bars,Pro design kill switch,Pual turner pipe,Fatboy silencer,Maier plastic(Looks awsome I put lots of cool stickers on it),Uni air filter,Shockwears,Parking brake block off,RTC clutch lever,Motion pro twist throttle(took a while to get used to!),Leager A arms ,Ohlins front shocks(got them with the quad the look kinda old),Homemade motor skid(from speed limit sign),Turf tammers on back,IPT hole shot up front,And probly other stuff to but I cant think of all of them rite now. it wasn't just 91-92 that had 6 gears, power valve, ect. it was 87-92. quadracers are greta bikes mines awesome they can still run with a lot of the big guys. 400Ex's and such. the biggest problem with them is that its harder to find aftermarket accesories for em cuz every1 makes stuff for the hondas. still a great bike.

the '87- 92 and specifically '88-92 (reed valve changes)are the best of the 'zuks, more parts are available, still not as much as hondas, but thay can be made to be just as fast and just as reliable, if not more. the aftermarket parts are out there, you just have to dig deeper, look closer, ask around.

Yes, i'm sure you meant a 92 and not 82 since quadracers were not made until 85. If you are considering buying it, i would have to lean towards giving you advice not too. Don't get me wrong, they are great bikes. But of the two i've had, i have had significant problems. The first bike had all sorts of frame problems, and most people i've known with lt's say the frames are junk. If you are a fan of airing it out big, you would have too look into a better frame. Right now i'm having electrical problems with my '87. It is highly mod and runs with banshees with slight mods. But it doesn't run right now. I love suzuki to death, but i bought an 88 Tecate 4 and am modifying that right now. I hate to say it, but i have lost faith in the 250 quadracers. Unless it is already race ready, aftermarket to the gills and extremely cheap, i would not buy it.

Ah..Ok, I talked to the owner. First he told me '82 but it is in fact an '87. The engine was recently rebuilt and the rest of the bike looks good, but he wants a little to much at $2600. (At least more than I want to pay for it)
Thanks for the replies.
