Default need to replace the rear end in a vinson

I just got the bad news that my entire rear end needs to be replaced. I was told that it is cheaper to just buy it entirely new rather than putting it back together piece by piece. If anyone has any expience with this problem i could really use some helpful advice. Im just looking to find the cheapest way to get my wheeler running again...Thanks

Id get a second opinion.
The cheapest route is to repair what you have.
What was specificly said about the reason for a whole replacement? Barings bad...water rusted internals, gear teeth broke?

How much do they want to fix it? You can get the rear bevel gear assy for around $450.00 new. Also you can find a used one cheaper. And yes it is better to replace the entire assy. I had to replace the front diff and it was done under warranty, so they did it right and replaced it as a assy.

Default need to replace the rear end in a vinson

what happened was that i think either the bolt to the drain valve fell out and the casing filled up with sand and water. I took apart the rear end and there were bearings floating around all inside it. Im not sure the name of the gears but the largest one was a little chewed up. The smaller one next to it was took a lot of damage and the teath were cracked up. I sent it off to get looked at by my machanic and he said that it wasnt worth fixing because all three gears would need to be replaced plus the bearings. He said it would be cheaper to just buy a new rear end.

Just looking for some advise.
Thanks
