Default z400 cutting out

I need some help please!I just did a 440 kit with stage2 hot cams(had the head ported) and put on a FCR carb. The problem is when I give it gas it sounds like the reverce revlimmiter is kicking in.I thought it was the timing and put the stock cams in and it still does it.So I changed the jets in the carb from a 185 to 175 up to a 195.I replaced my rev box,and I'm running out of options!!!

did u go back to the stock cdi? how does it rev when its in nuetral? does it only do it in gear? have you checked all your jets to make sure none are gummed up? pm mucky, he's had a 440 kit , he's pretty good about problem solveing.

check your valve timing, and are they shimmed properly.check the position on the clip on the needle in the carb. I was running a 170 main and a 52 pilot , clip on 2nd groove with my 440. What size fcr did you get? and make sure the boot between the carb and the head didnt slip or not on all the way
sucking air could be it, and remember hotcams time different from stock, and make sure you have the right cam in the right spot

YA, my stock rev box was the first one I tried. All the jets are new that I put in.I even had the dealer look it over for an electric problem.

My fcr is a 41ml ,I called hot cams and I re-marked the timming with them over the phone.I will go back over all my carb clamps just to make sure they are all in and tight.I had my moter guy make sure all my shims were correct.I really am lost, I'v had two people looking at it.One of them was wandering if my timming could of gotten rotaded 180 degrees off? It starts right up the second you give it gas it makes the problem,if I'm in netural, first or reverse.

One other thing he didn't mention is that there is no reverse light or nuetral light. The lights are still there, they just don't light up. It sounds like a rev limiter issue. It doesn't sputter like an air leak or a loose/tight valve. I wonder if the indicator lights not working are a part of the problem?

It sounds like you need to check the little spring And ball bearing connection on the side of the motor.
I believe it controls the rev limiter for the reverse as well... just a thought.

What's up TP?

The problem was that olzweasle is a bone head. He lost the little pices that tell the quad if the trannie is in reverse or not. Only 2 bucks and 2 months later, it runs now.
