1986 LT 230. Need Help, electrical issues
#1
I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping I can find someone who can help me. I have a 1986 Suzuki LT 230 I bought for $400. It doesnt run, because the magneto cover was cracked due to a loose chain. I fixed this problem but I came up with another problem. My On/off switch wiring got cut off. I need to find out how to wire it back together so i can get it to start. Can anyone help me out?

If no one offers up a wiring diagram, you can try the local library, they ususally have a few service repair manuals in the 629 section of non fiction. Ask the librian for help if you dont find it..because they can get one from another branch if there branch doesnt have one.
Ebay is another soarse for cheap service manuals.

What is the kill switch, just a ground? If there is more than one wire ohm the wires to find the ground. Ground to ground should have continuity. Then just play with hooking up the other wire(s).

The wiring diagram on the '86 sport is pretty simple because there is no key switch on the '86. Those weren't put on the sport until '87.
The kill switch on the handlebar below the hi/low switch is the only thing that kills the engine. It is simply a ground. Wiring the two wires together will not allow the engine to start. Or, if the actual switch has a malfunction, the engine may not be able to start. If you want to see if the engine will start, leave the wires unconnected.
