Default my Z is in the shop`for mods

my z is using a little oil so I'm thinking now would be a great time to put in a 12 to 1 piston, have the vales done , fix the leek in the water pump and get the brakes fix F&R.
with what mods I've done so far its getting 32 +hp at the rear wheel.
how much hp can i expect to get with these new & improvements?

How do you know its making 32 hp at the rear wheels? The answer to your question: Probably 1/2hp. Maybe 1hp if your valves leak badly. I know one of my intake valves was leaking badly but it wasn't slowing it down much. I tried to lap it in a lil bit, but I ended up buying a new valve. By the way, you don't need to put in a 12 to 1 piston. The piston you have is already over 12 to one if you put a drz400 base gasket on the bottom of the cylinder. I also think you have too big a main jet. I'm running a 155 and i'm at sea level with alot more mods than you. I had a 150 with the same mods as you and it was quicker than the 160. My slow speed jet is stock. Mine runs withut a hiccup.

i guess I'm one of the lucky guys, the shop that i go to has a dyno.

after i put on the full pipe i took it to the shop to have the carb jetted and run on the dyno,we tryed the 150 ,it was obvious the 150 was to small the 155 was way better yet it still had the stock air jet ,at 3 turns( which told me its time to go bigger.)
after running a full day in the sand ,i knew it was asking for more gas.
after doing a little research in to what other riders were doing ,i put in the 160 and the 25 .
after that we went to WV. to ride the trails, wow what a improvement.

i have to ask, what is a Power now valve, and why did you drop a tooth on your front sprocket?

A power now valve is a blade in the inlet of the carb that cuts the air in half at low throttle opening. It increases throttle response and torque at 1/2 throttle or less. I trail ride alot and the 13 tooth sprocket keeps me from riding the clutch alot. It also have better acceleration. First gear seems to be geared too high to go slow on technical trails. Maybe i'll try out a 160-165 main jet since the ported head/cams/header/higher compression. It might like it now. It did not seem to like it before. You have to think about this too.....highest horsepower readings are not always best. The area under peak counts more. I might have been making more peak hp with a bigger main jet, but the bike was faster with a smaller one. That was confirmed in numerous races against the same bike that was untouched. Big jet, we would tie most of the time. Smaller jet I would pull away from him. Jus food for thought. Everyone will have different results.....

if you can find a dyno spend the money and run it. i wanted to get mine dynoed , not for hp numbers but for jetting. it was worth every penny. i knew it felt alittle flat on top but could get the jetting right. $50 bucks and 10 down on main jet and she runs the best she ever has. dyno's will read diffrent hp #'s, but to find out jetting is worth the time and money. once i get my shee rebuilt ill be looking for a dyno.
