Mikuni carb rebuild
#1
I have a fuel delivery problem with my '97 King Quad and the local shop suggested I remove the carburetor (Mikuni 19B9 1 K712) and clean it. I've removed it but I don't know how far to try to disassemble it to clean it. Any suggestions?

It became very hard to start. I could choke it and get it started, but it had no throttle response. I could build the revs if I brought the rpm's up very slowly, and when I got it revved, it would blow dark smoke out of the exhaust. It seemed to me that it was loading up.

I would just take the float bowl off and see what's in there. Since it idles good I don't think there is any reason to go into the pilot jet.
Also make sure the float is free and does not hang up as any point.
Get a good can of carb cleaner and blow out all the passages.
Good luck and hope you get it running right.
