Here is a link to a dyno chart of a z400 and a 400ex done on the same dyno.

400ex and z400 on dyno

The z400 had 29.34 hp and the 400ex had 25.98 hp. The z hp curve stayed above the 400ex curve about the same all the way through the RPM range.

Of course for the same retail price these will not even come close in hp to what a Predator will put down.

I was looking hard at both and it was an easy decesion. The Z all the way! The honda engine is old design. Hasent been updated in years, but it's a proven design. The styling on the zuki is just so much better to me.
I've rejetted my Z, took off the lid and added a whitebrother exhaust. It will hang with my 450R...just want take it.

I have a 400ex and its been very reliable over the years but I have ridden both. Stock for stock the Z will take it.
The 400ex is outdated the piston is about 5mm samaller than the Zs. Both have a 400cc cylinder but the pistons tell the story. Plus those duel cams really wake up the Z.

Now that was some funny bickering... I am happy to say the east coast has some passion when they talk about there ride.... Thanks for putting a smile on my face; I'm getting older so I don't know how many good riding years are left....... Now for fun, I'm +40 in age and ride a simple 04KFX700. I'm wrong, it's really a 796cc, w/ 11:5 pistons, Crower 254 degree cams, Empi 44mm Duel down draft carb, Dalton clutch, Works shocks, HMF Duel Exhaust.......and now I can say I'm happy with my bike..... Build -em and ride -em. Ride everything out there, they all have something to offer. Now don't get upset if an old man on a Kawi 700 (kinda) smokes any sport quad you may be riding in the sand dunes of So Cal....it's just a deaper pocket book.... But WE do have fun, don't we ?
