Default Homemade go-cart...Help??

Sorry guys, i know this is a atv forums, but if anyone would know, i figured the guys on here would.,...But, me and a buddy of mine, r putting a KX 80 enigne on a single seater go-cart frame, well, we want to cut the exhaust shorter, so it dont stick out as far, but PPl say that on 2-stokes that if u do that, it messes them up, Because of Compression...Is this true, im not much of a 2 stoke mechanic,so i need some answers...and if thats true is there anyway of shortining the exhaust, or will i just have to Deal wiht the length??..thanks...

You can cut your exhaust down but your engine won't be as efficient. Two strokes like the scavenging effect that an expansion chamber has. Will it run? Yes, it will run fine. You will loose a little power though.
