Drywall, I have an '04 that has done the very same thing at least twice! Heres what you need to do...Pull off the top of the carb (black plastic cover with 4 screws) this will allow you to pull the slide out of the carb. Be careful becase there is a small rubber "O" ring under the cap and it needs to go back into the same place...(use some Vasaline to hold it in place until you put the cap back on). Once you pull the slide, you will find (or should) a very small metal clip on the needle. You should find the clip is broken and not allowing the slide to function properly. The slide won't come up fully when the engine is running and floodin the mtor out. Go buy three or four new slide needle clips (they are about a buck a piece). The clip shoud go on the the fifth notch on the needle....I bet this fixes the problem! Good luck and ride safe....

my blaster had the same bogging down problem. i had dirt and all kinds of crap in the carb, just take it apart and clean it with pure gasoline. my z400 hasnt had any problems so far (knock on wood) besides a fouled plug when i first bought it... but with the blaster... ohh man, had to rebuild that piece 3 times!... you said u had ure carb apart, but did you clean it out, and reset the jets?
