Default 2001 king quad 300 4x4 newbie question!

first off, i'm a newb, and i mean a TOTAL newb to atv's. just purchased my first one on ebay, picking it up on friday.
it's a 2001 king quad 300 4x4 with only 200 miles

couple of questions. it's been sitting for a while, and although the owner says it starts right up, i want to do the mandatory maintenance so i know everything is good. can you guys give me the specifics on what i should do?
i figured oil and sparkplug, but what kind of oil do i use? how much?
is there any belts to tighten or change? chains?
what about wheel bearings? should i check those out?
battery is going ot be replaced. air filter is ordered. (uni filter)
how do i adjust the brakes? does the engine oil lube the tranny as well?

also, i read on here about taking some pin out, so i can engage the differential lock in all 3 ranges of gears... how do i do this, and where is the pin?

any suggestions would be VERY helpful. i'm pretty familiar with engines in general, particularly 4 stroke motorcycle engines.

thanks in advance! i hope to learn a lot in this forum!

i figured oil and sparkplug, but what kind of oil do i use? how much? *Oil fill is on right rear just behing the R. R. wheel. No dipstick, but just in front of the R.R. tire is a round glass piece, about 3/4" in diameter. Read the oil level through this - it should be about 3/4 to 7/8 near the top. Can't remember oil weight - think it's 10-W30.

is there any belts to tighten or change? chains? * No belts or chains to worry about.

what about wheel bearings? should i check those out? *Can't hurt to repack wheel bearings and grease the U-joints. Doubtful that you have any problems with only 200 miles on it.

battery is going ot be replaced. air filter is ordered. (uni filter) * If you haven't already found the battery, remove the plastic panel under the front rack that goes around the headlights.

how do i adjust the brakes? does the engine oil lube the tranny as well? *Rear brake is a drum, pretty sure that they went to discs up front in 2001. Engine and tranny share the same oil.

also, i read on here about taking some pin out, so i can engage the differential lock in all 3 ranges of gears... how do i do this, and where is the pin? * The pin is in the Hi/Lo/super Lo lever. Since you are new to this, don't mess with it yet. The KQ is set up so that super Lo is also dif lock. You don't get dif lock in the higher ranges. Most riders will never need to use dif lock at anything more than a crawling speed. I know I had a KQ for years and never felt that I needed dif lock in anything other than super Lo. The KQ can be a beast to turn when the lock is in.
