Default Dropped camshaft pin

Ok, I did it. while takeing my engine apart for the first time, I heard something fall into the crankcase. The best I can figure is that it was the camshaft locater pin. I can't see it or get it with a magnetic tipped screwdriver. I haven't drained the oil yet, do you think it will come out with the oil? Any other tricks to try?

attach a magnet to some mechanics or safety wire.

if it doesn't come out with the oil. get a strong magnet and run it along the bottom of the case to the drain hole

Yea, you might use a telescoping mechanics magnet and retrieve it.You can pick one up at the local parts store for a couple bucks.Good luck.
