lt250r left case cover question..

lt250r left case cover question..
hey a friend of mine has a 250 with a cracked left side case cover, I found a good deal on an '88 but his is an '86..would it fit? i know they switched to power valves but dont know if it changed the case at all. thanks in advance for any help
