i have done it about 7 million time on my kingquad... as long as there is no load its no big deal..

and there is no safety issue besides the fact that you are removing one hand from the handle bars.....

"the best thing to do is let off the throttle so that you aren't reving the engine and flip the lever."

I've shifted into 4wd doing 15mph, i just let off the gas and flip the little lever, and it goes into 4wd instantly (i can tell because when i turn in 4wd, the front end dips in the opposite direction of the turn)

HOLY CRAP!!!! Don't you guys read the owners manual? I have hit 4X4 AT 30MPH + in a no load condition more time then I can count,,and even crazier, I have shifted back to 2WD,, Maybe I just got a super eiger!. If you have even a basic understanding of the mechanics involved then this is all pretty easily understood. If you have a hard time reading the menu at the local drive inn,, or can't understand why it gets dark at night,, Then you should have somebody read the manual and place post-it's on the machine in a format that works for you..... PLEASE ...never ride with crazy people that shift from 2 to 4WD without coming to a complete stop if that makes you uncomfortable. I did find a policy that get's me life-flighted out for a reasonable rate if I accidentily shift from 2 to 4WD,, However if I do it on purpose then it is a full cost ride. Good luck to all out there, I am considering mounting my 4X4 lever under my eiger so I can't engage without reading the manual. .........JJ

Its dangerous cause when switching from 2 to 4 WD its possible one of the front wheels could lock if the oppisite wheel is spinning or if your on a tight turn!
If one of the front wheels lock when they are grabbing traction it could flip the ATV over and fall on top of you!
R-E-A-D THE OWNERS MANUAL!

Please! Listen to me! STOP before switching to 4 wd!

I don't want to see you guys get hurt and breaking your neck and spine

read the owners manual!
