Wow , Wayout , it sounds like you have some bad gasoline in your tank. I have the 700 and it get`s great gas mileage and most of my riding is 4000 to 7000 feet elevation .</end quote></div>

I purchased one in December. Used it for occasional plowing and towing the fish house out up here in MN. Recently been doing some trail riding but no mud (it is still shiny!) and minimal water crossings.
All in all I thought gas mileage would be worse. I have no actual figures however.
Only time I notice the difficulty steering in 4WD is on blacktop.
I love the ride but my last wheeler was a solid rear axel.
Top end indicated is 60 mph dropping to 55 on an incline.
I wish it had more low end acceleration than top end but torque is adequate for crawling with a trailer.
I tend to get off the left side and wasn't keeping my weight on the peg - letting it fall on the plastic running board. The design isn't built for weight I found because it became disconnected from the front fender (secured by one bolt!) when the nut/washer pulled thru the fender. (I weigh 230 lbs).
Mine does backfire also.

My 2007 King Quad 450 has 9 miles on it and I can't get it out of 4x4. So yes, I would say they have some problems. The 9 miles that I did put on it though were very nice. The ride is great. I don't notice any steering problems except what was said earlier about riding on pavement. Other than the stupid thing being stuck in 4x4 I really like the bike.
The dealer told me that some people are getting roughly 22-26 miles a gallon on these bikes. When I can run it in 2 wheel drive and put some miles on it I will let you know what kind of mileage I am getting.

I have a buddy that just bought a new 450 KQ he went riding and after 9 miles it locked up on him and would only go into reverse. Took it back to the dealer and they looked it over could not fine the problem and gave him another new KQ... He was pleased that the Dealer gave him another on and did not mess around with trying to find and fix the problem....The dealer is <span class="FTHighlightFont">Aurora-Suzuki in Seattle WA.</span ft>
He got the new one and went riding this past week-end and endowed the KQ and ended up with a broken arm.....

Got one for my wife this weekend, put 35 miles on it already, and she loves it. I actually like it a lot too, just doesn't have near the low end like my BF does. Nor did I expect it to. It does like to backfire in decelleration periods, usually when coming down from top speed on the road, let completely off the gas, and coast for 1/4 mile then it will backfire. It happened 2-3 times the first day we had it but we went out last night for a several mile ride and it did not happen at all.
