I believe most people go by the owners manual and do oil changes around 600miles, 372km. I switched from synthetic to dino oil and change every 300-400 miles (186-248km). Synthetic is better but a lot more expensive and you need to keep it in the engine longer to be economically feasible. I figure that clean dino is better than dirty synthetic. The key is to keep the oil as clean as you can afford - whether it be synthetic or dino. If you can afford it change it every 100miles or 62km. It certainly won't hurt. The more frequent the oil changes the better it is for the engine.
