Hey i just bought a 2003 LTZ 400 and on the fuel valve it says RES ON and PRI what does PRI stand for it only runs when its turned to PRI and when it is Turned to on it floods the motor can any one help ?

 

PRI stands for "prime". That will let the fuel run through the valve. If it's in the "ON" position, the Z's carb draws the fuel.

 

so when i ride i should just leave it on prime then ?

 

You can run it on prime, I've done it before (accidentaly). But the quad is designed to run in the "on" position. So either the valve or the carb is messed up. How much fuel is in the tank? Will it run on reserve? (RES)

 

i tried to run it on RES but it just stalls out but when its on PRI it runs fine well it hurt anything if i just keep running in on PRI ?

 

no it wont hurt, but if the needle valve sticks gas will run right through the carb . good way to run out of gas on some long ride, out in the middle of no were.
i almost have to wonder if the vacuum hose is not hooked up or is there a hole in it.

 

i will run it on PRI then where is the vacuum hose located so i can check it out

What makes you think its flooding the engine with it in the on position?

 

i got it my carb was sucking in air which was the problem thank you for the help tho
