I have had the same problem with mine. You can try a fuel injection cleaner to help clean the carb. and if that doesnt work you will need to take it to a dealer and have them clean out ur carb. the problem is probably with old gas or at least that was the case with mine. Hope this helps.

pull the carb off and clean real well, take the jets out and use 2+2 carb cleaner through it.Then why don't you go to the auto parts store and buy a cheap inline filter for it for xtra good measure. That way any crap in the tank has a better chance of being stopped and not going in your carb.A little xtra protection.Hopefully this helps for starters, take care.

Does it run better with the choke on? There's a small screen at the carb inlet. Remove the inlet fuel line and use a small soft wire while spraying some carb clean to clean it out. With the fuel line off, turn the petcock to Pri.. Fuel should flow freely. Cut the line in half and install a fuel filter. There's a small screw in the float bowl of the carb. remove it and hook the fuel line back up. turn to Pri again and let the fuel flow for about 30 secs. should flush the float bowl.
