Hey all, my name is Chad. So anywho onto the question. i have a 86 quadsport 230. It has been sitting for about 3-4 years due to getting into my other toy(85 toyota 4runner rock crawler truggy) It has bad rings and a blown headgasket. i pulled it all apart about a month ago and got the top end rebuild kit. Now heres the delima, I am a mechanic, and i do not have any idea on how to time this bad boy, when taking the top end off i dropped the timing gear out of the chain So what im in need of is the timing marks of it has any or a page out a FSM for this bike. Thanks a lot in advance

I dont know about that particular model, But on most engines are fairly easy to figure out.
Most have a "T" and a "F" mark on the flywheel with a mark on the case to line it up with, and a mark on the cam gear with a mark on the head near the cam gear to line it up with.
If you find the marks, line the "T" mark on the flywheel with the mark on the case and while keeping it there line the mark on the cam gear with the mark on the head.

there should be a O on ur top cam gear and behind ur left engine cover theres a lil ^u line up mark on flywheel . the top gear goes straight up,and both cam bolts should be flat across,i believe but not 100%

ok thanks guys, also how do i get the rings into the cylinder? is there a special ring compressor for this?</end quote></div>
I always just use my fingers.
Not always easy but with a little patience it has always worked for me.
