How wide is too wide?

If you want to put 250 arms on your 230, I think you can shave them down and make them work. Center to center the arms match up. I held one of my 230 arms against the 250. They are about 1.5 inches longer and the shocks are also 1.5 inches longer. It also looks like the bottom balljoint is welded on, so you will get a new one of those too. The schematics at bikebandit seem to verify this. I assume the balljoint will fit the 230 knuckle, but I dont know for sure. It looks like it. By the way, the whole deal will cost $500 + shipping and who knows how long it will take to find them. A little mig welder costs about $300 and is worth is weight in gold. I posted a link to bikebandit for reference.
The shocks cost $200 and have been discontinued. It also appears the left upper a-arm has been discontinued. Strange,,, somebody probably bought the last one ever made or something, lol.

The 250 is such a great little quad... Too bad the parts are so hard to find. I couldn't even find an oil filter at rockymountainatv for it. About the only parts around are the ones that will interchange with the 230... and who wants those anyway???
