Default New Guy ...Needs Help! Carb Overflowing!

Hello To all. I'm Danny Nice to meet you , just got my first ATV ...a 1993 LT 160. It's not the prettiest looking thing....but it runs great....when it's warmed up. My main problem though is that when i first got it I noticed thatwhen it sat it started to drip gas out of a tube behing the engine. Prob about 2 oz. then it'd stop....and randomly do this over and over again, (when i opened my shop the day after the gas smell was really strong. ) So I took the seat to see if I could get a better look and the air box was there so I opened that and found that it was 1/2 full with gas!, I sucked all that out, and shut the fuel valve off and let it run dry. opened the valve and both the air box and tube started filling/leaking again. I believe this could be why it's hard to start? Only when it's cold though. It also blows white smoke when it first starts(especially when you punch the throttle) but once it warms up it stops smoking and will start right away when it's hot. The owner before me didn't do any matience to it so it's been neglected...Not anymore. ANY help would be great! Also I was wondering if anyone here has a shop manual for it too? I would really like to find a good used one if possible. Again thank you in advance.

Never had it happen to me on an atv before, but the same thing did happen on a lawn tractor I had.
I took the carb off, re-adjusted the float height, replaced the inlet valve (the one that opens & closes with the float) and new gaskets. Ran like a champ!

my old lt160 bike used to do that. We would have to shut the fuel valve off everytime it wasnt running. It was the needle in the carb If i remember correctly. The air box would fill up with gas if we didnt turn it off.

great little bike though, ours took one hell of a beating and she still runs.
