ongoing prob 2006 vinson
#1
I have a strange problem.
2006 vinson ltf 500 4x4
all stock.
The bike will go in water over the head lights just fine.. no prob. But going in mud the bike will just idle and not accelerate.
The first time this happened, I took the bike home cleaned everthing up and rerouted all the vent tubes (carb, brakes etc) up to the info cluster between the handel bars. Got the bike going and seems to run fine...
Second time out the bike still handels water fine, but again going in mud the bike dies and will only idle... NO mud got even close to the engine area or vents.
We were able to limp home using lots of choke and riding slowly. This is very odd.
Thanks for any help.

I have a 2004 Vinson and have always had a problem with the belt slipping after going through deep water. When the belt is slipping if feels like the bike has no power or the 4WD is not working. I always have to pull the drain plug after being in deep water. Does it seem to bog down only AFTER you've been in water?

i read your post a few days ago and couldnt figure out what it was...but then friday night i may have figured it out....there is a vent hose that usually runs near the airbox...well i had cleaned my airfilter the day before and had the seat off...well when i put it back on i pinched that hose...it cause the bike to only idle...when i tried to give it a little gas it died...i took the seat off and the was back to purring like a kitten...the hose blow's air so it will not get clogged it is pinched somewhere.
