88 LT 250R Carb jetting HELP?
#1
I just bought an 88 LT 250R. I'm new to this quad but have some experience with 2 srokes. The bike is probably jetted wrong. It will start but does not want to idle and the throttle is real spongy at low rpm and when you are riding it wants to die when you get out of the throttle. Does any one know what size jets might be decent. The guy i bought it from gave me a dyno jet kit with all kinds of jets and needle valves. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

first thing i would check is the reeds...if they are not tight to the reed valve they need changed, even if they were good a backfire could put a hurt on em....probably wouldnt hurt to clean the carb also might solve all your problems....

Like 250Redneck said...I'd check the reeds and clean the carb first. The backfiring could be due to a sheared woodruff key, or a bad stator, so check both of those. I've had problems with both of these. I have a '88 Quadracer and am using a 25 pilot and 210 main in my stock Mikuni carb. No air box lid, FMF silencer, UNI filter, on a stock bore.
