Hey guys... I just bought an '86 230, paid $150 for it... lol, yea, its a P.O.S., right at the moment, but I see the beauty in it, despite the broken plastic, spray bomb paint, and rigged up crap. The motor runs well, but everything else needs work... no clutch cable, no brakes at all....etc, etc... anyway, 2 questions... how can I tell what style of 230 it is? and, It has the kick start.... since the right hand controlls are from a yamaha (thumb throttle), did this bike ever come with an electric start? this is the very first 4 wheeler I have ever had, but have had plenty of street bikes... anyway, any hints, tips, tricks... websites... anything to do about this bike, would love to know!!!

It never came with electric start. You can get a goki starter for it for around $350, lol, twice what you paid for the whole bike. Post the vin number and I can tell you what each number means, including the year. It should be on the left side of the frame at the bottom.

Pretty much anything you want to know about these quads somebody on this forum can tell ya.

PS. Once you get it running right, you'll kinda like the fact that it doesn't have electric start.
