Default want to know

I was looking for a big bore for my lt230s and found one at four stroke tech, a 260cc kit. I want to know if the lt250s big bore 273cc will fit the lt230s. want ore power of my lt. I all ready have a dg pipe, web stage 2 cam, rejetted carb, free flow air filter top removed, 1mm over piston. The reason i ask this is cause all the parts fit the lt230s/250s. just let me know what you guys think

Just go for the 260 kit. The 273 can be done, but VERY expensive and labor intensive... 230 and 250 parts are not "interchangable" with out some serious machine work...

Which parts aint interchangable? Just curious coz one day I want to do this too.

When I was talking to Vince at Vince's cycles, he said to send him my crank and rod to have the bearings redone before ever thinking about a big bore kit. The needle bearings at the bottom apparently have some issues when you go that big. The cost is about $125 he said and I think that includes shipping.

You know me Randy, don't know **** on the technical side.. Maybe it wasn't as bad as I rember, but my memories might be jaded by the fact that I started it first time and it bucked like a bronco due to my machinist not doing whatever was needed to the bottom end to make it work..."oh ya, forgot, bring it back" Then getting it back and only getting about 3 hours of ride time, b4 it was stolen. Didn't even get it broke in!! It did scream though.........

I think you know more than you're lettin on

I bet it was bucking like that because the crank and piston wasn't balanced. I'd still like to know what all these "kits" come with and the part numbers for each piece so I can figure out what quad they where made for. It would be a lot easier to decide what to do then,,, with all the info.

la sleeve 260cc big bore kit=
1 each part number FL866B Sleeve 70mm, 1 ea part number W866PS Piston kit 70mm, 1 ea part number GS866 cosmetic gasket kit 230-260cc, 1 ea hot rods rod kit (can't read part number, sorry)
$264.73 plus $10.09 freight.

Can't find the 273 paperwork at the moment, but you will be the first to have it my friend.

I'll read back a billion pages in the "230 help" thread, but I think you are correct about the crank balancing act.

Ok, I have the factory service manuals for both the 230 and 250. I went down item by item to see what was different between the 2. Only the piston pin was different. 16mm for the 230 and 17 for the 250. Of course the bore size too, 66x67 for the 230 and 68.5x67 for the 250. They don't have a measurement for the big end of the rod, so I dont know if they are the same (I assume they are). Everything else is exactly the same. Valves are the same too (despite what I've been told). I'm guessing the weights on the crankshaft are bigger on the 250 because both the piston and the piston pin is larger. So, if you get a kit that is supposed to go on a 250, it may shake pretty bad because it will be out of balance.... ie. what poolgod went thru.

Now if I could just figure out where that 70mm piston came from that poolgod was on about I'll be all set.

The YFM225 Moto-4, Tecate 250 trike, Odyssey 250, ATC250R are the only things wiseco makes a 70mm piston for. The moto-4 is the only 4-stroke on the list. I wonder if that is it?
