Exhaust preferences are too numerous to mention. You can research this topic for hours on this and other forums. For me..it all boils down to personal preference!! I was like you when I had my Z..I knew little about all the choices, but I did alittle research on the net about pipe shootouts and asked others who were very helpful on this forum. Yoshi of course is a good one...however I chose dr .d because the price was good and they have won some of the pipe shootouts that I read, but alot of the choices out there are good ones as well.Whatever brand you decide on...know this......get the full system because you will benefit the most from it!! Filter it and jet it also. If you dont have the money for a full system save and then get it. If you buy a slip on ,you'll just end up wishing you had gotten a full system!! Just my 2 cents and some others may disagree with me. Good luck and happy hunting, there are alot of good ones out there!!! let us know how you make out.

I have a 06 Z 400 with a full HMF Sport pipe. Nice and loud!!! I like the pipe, personally. But if you are looking for big HP gains, do more research on all the pipes out there. StillZ1 hit it right n the head as well!!!
Also, why are you going to mess with your suspension?? I don't think there is any need to mess with it, honestly. Ask you self this...... Do you like how it rides?? Do you like how it handles on trails?? Do you like how it lands after jumping?? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then you don't need to mess with it, otherwise you might be wasting time in the garage, instead of on the trails.

Well, for starters, the stock headpipe is alittle more restrictive than the aftermarket ones. Some people have told me that it has alot to do with the stock bends in the headpipe, I guess the aftermarket ones have less bend in them and a little less exhaust restriction. But mainly my response to his question was based on my opinion, I've had both slip-on and full, and I'd take the full any day of the week and twice on Sundays!! Hope this helps.
