If you're going to do any type of serious riding, I'd say yes.

All it takes it one time for your foot to come off the pegs and go under the rear tire to convince you of that.

Yes, do it. I won't own a sport quad w/o nerfs on it. While you are at it, look into the footpeg extensions unless you get a "propeg" style nerf.

+1 for nerfs if you ride it like a true sport. I have a friend that landed straight up-and-down off a jump and his foot slipped off the peg. Ended up tearing his ACL and breaking some bones in his foot. Now the poor guy has a huge recovery ahead of him ... might not even ride this next season. It's not worth the risk. Get the nerfs.

Your stock heel guards will work fine. Go to Rockymountain and get a set of their Tusk brand nerfs. 109.00 dollars the last time I checked.

Agree with the other riders.. I started back riding a lttle more than a year ago, new bike w/out nerf bars. During a normal ride two months ago, trails were wet and my back wheel caught a tree...it was a short flight. I made it out w/a few fractured ribs, folded rim and bent axle. Worse part was I had the bars in the garage, waiting for brackets to be powercoated.

If they were on, I would have slid off the tree, saved $$ and possibly my neck. Its a clear decision here.
