now if i bumped up the rpms with a cdi wouldnt that affet the longevity of my engine componets

FCR 39MM Keihin from a Yfz450, Thats what you need.

Only if you USE the rpms, lol. IF you bump it up you may need stiffer valve springs so your valves dont float. You may want to research the rod and rod bearings if they can take the abuse. I'm sure the occassional blip up to 10,000 wont hurt, but if you do it everytime you ride it might be a problem.

I was looking at the honda 400ex and it came with a 38mm with pump, stock.

Yeah, I was just reading about those. They sound like great carbs. $500 though. But they even have an air bypass thingy that richens the idle mix to stop the popping when you let off the gas. Cool!

True! As much as I am not a fan of Keihin, I think the 39mm FCR is the best if you can find one reasonably priced.

Totally agree, just so damn expensive. Even on ebay. Ive been scoping some Edelbrock quick silvers on ebay,but I think Ill wait at least to spring before I make any moves. I got the Harescrambles less than three weeks away!!!
