Z400 troubles
i've got a 03 z400 that i beat on, last fall i was riding and went through some water and it died. it would just crank and crank.
i pulled the plug wire, wiped the water off the boot put it back in and it fired right up, it did that to me a couple of times
well thursday night i deceided to change the plug, its been rode hard and i had no idea when it was changed last.
after digging dirt that was packed around the hex head of the plug and cleaning and vaccum out the dirt i got the plug changed.
won't start! just cranks and cranks again. i thought maybe i just flooded it with carb cleaner. so i let it sit. still nothing, try opening the carb and cleaning it, maybe some of the dirt made its way back to the carb (i'm desprate) carb looks good inside.
so what are the chances that the plug wire is arching out to the side of the head and not actually at the spark plug?
if i pull the plug and ground it out, i'm getting spark there
any other ideas on where to look next?

i had my spark plug wire come out of the boot once, that would keep it from starting.
dropping the spark plug into the hole could maybe bend the electrode.
one other thing that will make it hard to start is the valve being to tight, if it will push start but not cranck start ,when cold ,thats what i would check.

Hello from New Mexico! What is the difference between a
z400 and an eiger 400? I have a 2006 eiger and love it. I never realized
how much I would enjoy having an atv. I own a 600 acre ranch in the nm.
mountains and use it for both work around the place and rec. I dont know how
I ever got along w/o it. happy atving to all.
