King Quad 700... Black beauty!
#1
Hey guys....
Just got an amazing deal on a new 07 King quad and wanting some advice from current owners.
I have read some issues about the Air filter, and would like as many opinons on this as possible. Do I really need to replace the factory filter? Seems like Suzuki would have this figured out by now..... (bwdik)
My previous ATV was an 02 650 Prairie with the V-twin and I am missing the torque from that motor already..... Any simple performance upgrades out there?
I would also like to add a winch and thumb throttle extender at some point.... any recomendations?
Any other advice or comments are greatly appreciated!
Really lovin this beast so far!

The air filter was the first thing I changed after reading many posts about dirt getting thru the stock filter. I went with a UNI air filter but most KQ owners seem to like the TwinAir air filter. As far as Suzuki figuring things out, I think they are in denial.
The second thing I changed was the tires to aftermarket (Swamplite) tires. A big difference in handling.
For a great place for info on the king quad go to http://www.nyrocatv.com and go to the King Quad area. MANY tips and suggestions.
Congrats on the new ride!!!

Thanks for the input....
Do you typically ride in low or high range? Seems like low is the better place to be, but the top end is only around 30 mph which is when a governor kicks in? I always rode my 650 Prairie in high range, (even tho the dealer recommended low for better belt longevity) but it just seems like the high range on the KQ is a little too high. Although the Suzuki manual says high is normal operating and low is more for utility?
Maybe that new copperhead ECU would solve this issue! $500 is a little steep.... maybe the prices will come down?

I usually use high range but coming from a Kodiak 450, that's plenty quick enough for me! That VDI seems awesome but before I spend that kind of money I think I'll try the clutch kit. When I put one on my Kodiak it helped the bottom end a bunch. I'm not really worried about losing any top end...60 or so is plenty for me. Another thing the KQ owners seem to like is the HMF swamp series exhaust. Alot of things you can do to wake it up. Check out the caster issue on the other site though. I haven't had problems but I'm thinking about doing something before I do.
