Whatever atv you will be happy with depends upon your riding style and where you ride. I love my KQ450. Has all the power I want, and will go anywhere the bigger ones go. If you are looking for pure speed and power, then might not want a 450, but a 750. Most everyone I know who has bought a 450, loves it. If you know of someone who has one, try it out. Good Luck.

Sure people are gonna say, "there are better ATV's out there". But you know what, NO MATTER what you have something in a year or 2 will come along thats better. IF your happy with it, that's ALL THAT MATTERS.

The 450 is a great quad, my brother and I actually looked at them before settling on 700's ('07s). There was only a $600 price difference for us, dealer was willing to move a bit more on the price of the 700 vs the 450 because it was a "fresh" model.

Man thats just not fair, why the hell do prices on ATV's got to be so much more here then in the US considering that our dollar is at par with the US dollar. That is just a bunch of BS.

For a KingQuad 450AXi 4x4 I think the MSRP is a little over $9000 without a winch here in Canada.

When I bought mine they had a rebate program so thats why I was able to get mine a little cheaper and I was able to hagle a bit with the salesman but still is allot cheaper south of the border.

If your are only 30min from the border then I would defentily check it out if I were you.

I wonder too if there is any diffences between the quads sold in US vs Canada. I know my old Honda I used to have had a few extra fetures that the US models didn't have.

I'm all for the 450. I'm 5' 4" and had the Yamaha 450 and it was good. Thought I needed to upgrade so I went with the KQ 700. Great power and speed but looking back, I think the 450 did what I needed and wasn't as intimidating. Go with the 450. If you are comfortable, that's all you need.

OK Guys, my 2 cents worth...

I bought the KQ 450 last August - great machine, it does everything that I could ever want, great power, speed, etc. It came with a winch, I added the hand warmers, trunk and I just bought a plow - man this thing can do anything!

I too live near the border and thought that I could save some money doing the cross border shopping thing. WRONG!

I did the homework, short story it's cheaper to shop at home.

Details?
- The machine (ALL machines - ATVs, Motorcycles & Cars) must meet Canadian standards (odometer in KPH not MPH, pollution, safety regs etc), you must provide proof that all standards have been met and that there are no factory recalls - a letter from the manufacturer is required.
-You cannot just 'Show Up' at the border, you must make an appointment with US Customs to go through the paper work and pay all the taxes.
-Then you have to find a US dealer that will sell to you (some don't want to do the paperwork),

Oh yes; The Canadian dealers will probably not honour the warranty issues on a Cdn owned US machine - you have to return to the US to service a US bike.

This all takes several trips across the border - so now there is the gas, time, crossing fees and hotel accommodation... the list goes on.

At the end of the exercise, you MIGHT save a few hundred dollars, but the effort isn't worth it especially when you'll have to return to the US for the warranty work and all the hassle of crossing the border AGAIN!

So I decided to keep my money at home and haggle a bit better deal with my local dealer. What you decide to do, is up to you.

New to this forum and atving in general. Also have researched every conceivable site for info on the new KQ 450. Live in B.C. interior and am price shopping this atv. Can I ask your best O.T.D. price that you were able to get and through what dealership? Thanks

Thanks for the reply! Got an OTD price out of Kamloops for $8600 and change (KQ 450 ). The dealer here in Merritt is very competitive and will soon get a price off him. Please let me know how you made out (price and dealer) and I will update you when I have further info.
