Default '04 LTZ250 - whats it worth?

I'm looking at an '04 LTZ250 that is super clean. Only has a small scuff on one fender. Comes with the stock pipe and an aftermarket Yoshimura pipe. Rear tires are 75% worn, fronts 20%. Overall it looks to have been well cared for. What is a reasonable price from a private party (it's listed for $2200 which seems high)?

Thanks,

Jon.

That's just under what NADA shows it ($2295) and a little less then Kelly Blue Book ($2370) for the completely stock version.

Isn't that high though for a private sale (vs. a dealer)? I thought that '04s were more like $1800-2000 in stock condition.

Thanks.

try offering 1800 then. you'll probably end up at $2000. tell him you need to spend $150 to replace the rear tires.

That's what it showed for private sale. It did give dealer trade in, which of course was less.

If you were buying this from a dealer, I'd guess you could add a couple hundred to the price.

Dude, I just bought a 95 KQ300 for $1800. Low milage and in great shape, but, sounds like a fair deal to me. Now my deal, starting to wonder. HEHE

Update. Too another look today. The pipe is an FMF 'Q' pipe not a Yoshimura (didn't notice the first time) but there's probably not much difference. Negotiated him down to $1575 since I found out he had had it sitting around for about a year and only rode it a few times around the yard. I sensed he wanted it gone. Even came with an original toolkit under the seat and a practically unused stock pipe Only signs of wear are one scuff on the rear fender and a couple of small dings in the wheel lips.

Now my proud baby is sitting in the garage waiting to be set free

Negotiating is an art. I don't claim to be an expert but I think I got a particularly good outcome on this one.....how did I get from $2200 to $1575?

The fact that I showed up with cash and a vehicle ready to take it away showed that I was serious an not a tire kicker. I chatted a little to build up the rapport with the seller and get a feel for the history of the bike and also to understand my 'opponent'. This is where I found out that he was really motivated to sell on the day I was there. I explained that the value to me (I always use trade-in as a starting point) was in the $1800 range but this bike needed $150 of new tires and a $100-150 tune up from a dealer (runs a little rich, prolly just needs a main jet change that I can do easily). So I offered $1500 to start. He countered at $1650 and we met in the middle I actually would have paid as much as $1900 for it considering the condition.
