cold starting problem

i have a 87 lt300e when i first try to start it in the morning it turns over but wont start with or without choke but i shoot a blast of starting fluid in it it starts right up after it warms up it starts everytime i put a new spark plug in it but it just doesnt like the cold any ideas

Point - it is a 1987 Bike, everything is getting old and a poor spark is possible, old wires with cracked insulation will reduce your power to the plug etc.
From your description - I would suggest that you change the spark plug wires.
(wiring harness), as well as your ignition system and see what difference it makes.

Check the intake valve lash. Cold starting problems is a symptom of having too little lash in the intake valve. You also could have plugged jets n things like that. And the electrical system could be on the weak side, especialy where coils of wire are involved.
