LT250 years & changes
#1
I have an 85 LT250r and I am looking to rebuild it. I am in need of a frame, swingarm, axle and many other parts. Ebay has done good for me and now this site. My question is, What years are interchangable? If I come across an 86 frame, will all my 85 parts fit? I always thought the 85 quadracer came out and then in 86 they made some major changes. Then I was told that 85 and 86 were the same, but most of the parts I have looked at say they are for an 86 to 92 250. Any info would be just swell! Thanks in advance.

as for the changes by which year (as i understand them):
1985-86....
introduced & stayed the same machine
1987...
motor: power-valved engine, reed cage moved & is more accessible
front suspension: reinforcements, gussets, changed A-arms & shock mounts
rear suspension: geometry the same, changed the axle bearing carier to the square one
1988-90....
motor: changed reed cage & the cylinder slightly
rear suspension: changed wheel bolt pattern to match LT500, 5- 130 bolt pattern
1991-92....
rear suspension: new geometry, more like a current MX bike, moved air box from in front of shock to behind it, (by necessity.)
front suspension: a few more gussets to reinforce were the factory thought was weak
the only complaint i have is that they never made a real mount for the front bumper(bolt holes, etc.)
