I believe your stock carb is a 34mm, you might want to go up to a 36mm or larger. However, the larger you go, the less low end power you'll have unless you have a good deal of motor work. Also, try installing a good set of reeds and a reedcage.

I found out that the 85 has a 32mm carb. I think I need a new carb anyway. Should I get a Keihin 34mm carb? I am looking for more low end and more throttle response. I already have some FMF pipes. Is there anything else I can do to make it snappier?

i have a stock 34 mm carb off of a later year lt250r, i'd sell it... it'll save you some cash & bolt right in, just needs to be jetted.

i have the stock carb on my '91 & it performs better than my brothers '90 w/ a 39 mm carb.

If you want to upgrade your carb for better throtle responce get it one size up from stock or to date with current motor mods. If your LT is basicly stock go for the 34mm carb. It will definatly improve all around responce espicaly if you plan on adding mods. You could also just clean your and blow out the jets with an air pump. That one of the only things on quads that dont break is carbs. Well I guess unless you have a Raptor.

I just swaped my stock Mikuni 34mm for a Keihin 36mm set up by Duncan Racing. WOW what a differance it made. They ask you nonstop questions about your bike, where you live, type of riding you do, and so on, so they can set up the best carb for your ride and for it to perform to your expectations. They set me up with the 36mmpj because my bike is set up for low/mid torque, if I was set up for high-rev top end it would have been a 39mmPWK. My bike has greatly improved low end and is actually is quicker all the way through the powerband, and pickedup some mph. on top.
Hope I helped, Danno
