Default 1986 suzuki lt230s

i have a 1986 suzuki lt230s. i was riding one day trying out my new gear and lucky i was just taking a trip around the block before i hit the trails because my atv stalled and would not start. now im sitting hear taking advice from my friends on trying to get it started again. when i go to kick it over(not electric start) it wants to but it just doesnt. i was told that it was my carb but i took it all apart and cleaned it but still not starting. if anyone knows or thinks of how to get it started without spending much money let me know. i have atv-a-cides and just need to get out on the trails thanx

You just have to start with the basics and work from there. Air, fuel, and spark are the areas you need to concentrate on. First check that you have fuel flow TO the carb. Make sure your air filter is clean and oiled. Check that you have spark. It never hurts to change out the plug even if you do have a spark. If no spark you will have to start tracing the wiring for a bad ground, faulty connection, or wires without insulation.

Does the compression feel any different? If so, start with rocker-arm clearance for intake and exhaust. Should read near 150psi for compression test. Check that your carb settings are correct for motor arrangement (Stock: 2 turns out for air screw and middle setting for the needle). Make sure your timing is correct and you might need a book for that one, I don't remember exactly what it looks like down there. Good luck.
