Hi all,

My son's z400 has a persistant squeak coming from the rear brake disc (only when one part of the disc goes through the pads, so the squeak rate speeds up the faster you go). When the brake is applied or if the disc is wet it goes away. Tried pressuring washing it with no luck. Do the brakes need an adjustment or would a light sanding help? If it needs to be sanded what grit sand paper would I use?

Thanks for your help!

Brake-Kleen. Spray the crap out of it all over.

my 03 did that and the only way I could stop it was to replace the stock rotor with a vented one and it hasnt done it since. you can try to sand it with 80 grit, it might work for a while

Tried the brake cleaner...didn't fix the issue. Going to order a new disc (after market, vented disc would be the way to go I presume? Or does Suzuki make one?). As you can tell I'm not very mechanically inclined, how difficult a job is replacing the disc?

Thanks for all of your help so far, great forum, very informative.

suzuki doesnt make one and its not to hard to change the rotor
first remove the left rear wheel and hub, then remove the brake caliper, loosen the chain and then remove the large axle nut on the axle,(It will be very tight)remove the rear sprocket and hub, slide axle out to the right and remove the brake disc. reassemble in reverse, axle nut is tightened to 130 lb-ft,
