Default Few diagnosis questions on 95 kq300.

So many little things to fix on this quad but starting at the begining.
I am relatively new to quads and definatly new to diagnosing any problems with them. I have very little engine knowledge but am trying to learn as I go. I do not have a manual yet for this quad.

Problem in question:

This quad runs great after it is started and will fire right up time and time again immediately following. But the initial start up after letting it sit for more than fifteen minutes is crazy hard. My choke nut (plastic) is broken, but I feel this should not affect starting the quad without it considering I live in NC and the average temp. these days is upper eighties. Usually what happens is I run out of battery after about five minutes of trying to start, then I hook up to my car with jumpers (engine off of coarse). The whole time it sounds like it gets closer and closer to starting. Finally it will start after pumping the gas continually for what seems to be at least a hundred times. You would think this would flood the engine, but since it does not and is the only way to start the quad I am thinking I have a fuel pump problem. That is if this quad even has one. Once started, like stated before, I can turn it off and crank it again, and right up it starts. I have no idea what is going on. I have put over four hundered miles on this quad the whole time having to struggle to get it started every time. Money is obviously tight or I would take it in. Any leads as to where to start would be great. Sorry so long. PLEASE GIVE YOUR TWO CENTS, any help is appreciated.

It sounds as though its not getting fuel to the carb. Is there a fuel pump or it the system gravity feed? I'd get the fuel delivery.

Yeah, it has a fuel pump. So now, why is it continuing to get gas into the carb after I do finally get it started. Am I essentially manually "pumping" the gas up to the carb by throttling back and forth? Cause I am guessing that after I finally do get it started, it runs fine, no problems, so maybe once I get it started the flow continues. That is what is puzzling me, does the fuel pump work after the engine is started, or just in the begining? Again, learning as I go. Thanks for your idea, you are probably right!!
