King Quad or Prairie
#1
Ok, I need some advice.
Looking at 2 quads to buy one used. One is an '05 King Quad 700w/1400 miles on it for 4800, the other is an '06 Prairie 700 with 200 miles for 4900.
The Prairie is SRA. I'm well versed in the differences between IRS and SRA, I'm trying to decide between the two OVERALL. I'm looking for a machine to ride more aggressive with so I don't beat on my X2. I will be getting in to some mud and water but nothing crazy. The wife will be driving it occasionally as well. Any opinions???

I think the King would be a much nicer machine to ride but I had read about several "possible" issues with the 05 King. If I remember some had a reverse issue problem and some (made in Japan if I'm correct) had a weld problem.
I'm not sure if the Prairie had any concerns or not.
Hope this helps.

Well, since you are versed in IRS vs SRA, then what do you prefer? What are you going to be doing with the machine? The Prairie will own the King for fast fireroads powersliding type riding. The King will be much better in mud riding, however the Prairie isn't a slouch depending on the mud and setup. When you say aggressive, what does that mean to you...riding like a sport quad(jumps, powersliding, wheelies, etc), or riding very demanding technical terrain, serious mud, etc?
I'd go with the newer machine with less mileage, but I personally would rather have EFI...the King will get much better fuel mileage...the King has light twitchy steering, the Prairie has heavy steering...Prairie is pretty tough, not many problems with them...

By aggressive I mean fast trail, light mud. No jumps.
One is a twin the other a single cylinder. What are the advantages??
As far as preference for IRS and SRA, I like both, depends on the riding. I've always owned Polaris' and have frienda with Grizzly's. Have had no experience w/suzuki or kawasaki.
I do all my own repairs and maintenance. Either brand easier to work on?

Yeah I think you would be happier with the Prairie, twin vs single? The Prairie 700 will have much more torque and lowend power than the King, the King will have better top end power and top speed, and better fuel mileage. But both will haul a$$.
