'04 Eiger Mods
#1
I have an '04 Eiger auto
I just order a Jet Kit and K & N air filter. Question is, do I need to get a new hi flow exhaust right away or will it all run with just the Air/Fuel mod?
I plan on getting the FMF pipe, but and not looking to spend the $300 right at the moment.
Also, is there a tool to pull the body rivets, or some special technique, or just make sure you have a lot of spares?
Thanks,

Personally, I would wait to do the work until you have the pipe too...without allowing the engine to breathe out (with a better exhaust) it won't have much better performance if it can only breathe in (filter and jet) and unless you are installing a jet the same size (why?) you will run rich and foul the plug, as you are putting more fuel into the engine than it can efficiently burn.
You will probably have to remove some bodywork to do all these things, so why do it twice? If you have never done a pipe and rejet before, do some net research and/or reading first...it will also help to talk to a mechanic, or even a sales person from wherever you get the pipe, to see if the jet you are installing is the right size for the application
The filter you selected is not, in my opinion, the best choice for your application. K&N is a great filter for racing applications, where you change/clean the filter before every race (or every few races) K&N has the best air flow rate, but not the best filtration, which is why they offer "Filterskins" as an addition.
A UNI, TwinAir, or similar design filter is a better choice, IMO, as you do not have to clean it before every ride...filtration is better, and airflow is still significantly better than stock.
I have an HMF "Utility Series" on my Vinson, and love how it perked it up...do yourself a favor and get the "quiet core" insert, as it is too loud otherwise
Good luck amigo

I have a jet kit and K&N with the stock pipe. My 02 was jetted lean from the factory based on where I ride (1-2000 ft. above sea level)so the engine really liked the richened fuel mixture. No special tools needed to remove the rivets (pliers and/or straight screw driver). But I did replace several with some I found at Lowe's I liked better.

I just put a HMF utility exhaust, rejetted, and added a UNI filter. What a difference. You can get a HMF slipon exhaust wth jet off of ebay for under $250. I added the quiet core as well for another $25. I got mine from ATV galaxy on ebay and was very happy with their service.
My Eiger was lean before adding the new exhaust. Now it runs and sounds awsome. I agree with everyone else, get the exhaust now if your budget allows.
