Have you checked your intake valve's lash? Mine turns over also but does not sound like it is getting spark. I have learned that it has been my intake valve that was all junked up and not allowing for enough air to enter the chamber (cylinder) to allow for "explosion". Here comes the funny part...
So I ride my 95 kq every day anyway. Here's how I do it. Even though it sounds as though there is no chance of starting, I continue to try with my idle (mixture) way lean, almost to the point of screwing itself out of the carb (but don't let it do that). The whole time I am giving my starter hell, I am pumping the throttle constantly. Usaully after about five minutes of trying, my battery charge dies. That's when I grab my trusting 300 amp jump starter and hook it up. Every time, without fail (knock on wood) it will go from sounding like it has no spark, to igniting and starting. I then have to warm it up a little before turning my idle back to an acceptable level so that it may stay idle without the help of the throttle.

Crazy reasons why this makes no sense:
-I should be flooding the engine, but I am not.
-After the initial hell starting, it will fire right back up without any problems as long as the engine is still warm. Makes no sense, makes it sound like a fuel delivery problem, but isn't.
-My starter is holding stong after six months of this "initial" starting process. I know, it should be burnt by now.

Anyway, might be your problem, might not. But give it a try, in all sometimes it takes me twenty-thirty minutes to get it started, but then she rides great all day long without any problems. Other times, it will start up in five minutes of trying.
Good luck, love my kq, but hate starting it, ha ha.
