Default Clutch Problems?!?!? Can someone help please?

Hello everyone. Im a newbie to the site in hopes to help people out with some of there problems. But first I have a problem of my own and I really hope that someone may be able to steer me in the right direction.

I have a 86' LT230(chain driven) that I bought last night for $500 and the clutch (im assuming) is bad.

Here is the problem: Today I started the quad up and took it for a ride through the trails and after a few yards, it started to loss power very fast. Although the engine was running and performing as expected, the four wheeler would not go anywhere.

well, this is hard to explain but I will try my hardest. After a few minutes of driving (running the engine at a constant 3,000 rpm) it will slow down and eventually come to a stop as if I were holding in the clutch.

I checked the clutch cable to see if it were sticking and it is not. All seems to be working fine.

Now my question is, Will I have to buy all new clutch plates and such, then replace the whole unit? or is there something else that I should check?

Any advice will help and I would like to thank everyone in advance!

Hi Crzy4wlvs, First welcome to the site I've been on a lot of ATV sites and this one is one of the best. It soulds like you need to go throughyour clutch and replace the discs and spring. Check out Dennis Kirk. Good luck Rebel700
