Default z400 not running right

I recently purchased a z400, it recently has been rebuilt and also had new timing chain, and i had the valves adjusted. It is hard to start sometimes, but when it does it will idle fine but cut out during acceleration. I also noticed after I got it back from the shop that the sensor on the side of the carb is unplugged. I can't seem to find the plug for it, and also it doesn't look like anyone has done any hacking on the wiring either. What is this sensor and is this the problem? Where can i get a wiring diagram? Could it just need to be jetted?

May just need a bigger pilot jet. Or perhaps it is clogged. Hard to say with all the work that was recently done to it. I would start with pulling and cleaning the carb and making sure there is not debris, clogs, etc. Then rejet for your conditions. It is probly the cheapest way to start. Atleast you will be able to move on without wondering if the carb was the problem.

Maybe you would be able to help me with this. i have an 03 z400 tht died i found out it was the stator, it was replaced the quad still wouldn't turn over so i got a cdi and after replacing that the quad will start and idle fine but when you rev it it shuts off. but will start and idle again fine. Is this a carb issue?

that wire is your throttle position sensor dont know if that would be your problem I have mine unplugged but I'm running a carb from a 450. Unless your jetting is way off it should run may pop and backfire on accel or decel depending on whether its rich or lean. try cleaning your carb first I bet you will find out where the sensor plugs in.
