ok its a 04 manual eiger it runs strong at throu all the gears but ehen it gets into 5th and you start really going it just dies tryed it a few times does the same thing.when it dies you cant start it unless you pull the choce on it will start right up take the chock off it dies imeadiatly.choke and it starts right up but if you give it throtle it will die ,you have to sit there for a few minutes with it running and finally you can pull away and ride all day unless you go all out and it will do the same thing.i hooked to a little tree and was in 4wd low pulled it with a good strain on the motor for about 300yards and it did the same thing. anybody have any ideas? please i need help.

 

sounds like it might be a float problem? if your going full throttel and it dies after e few seconds your float might not be allowing enough fuel into the carb.

does it spetter, pop, or backfire when it dies?

 

it runs strong then just bogs and die!

 

i just replaced the fuel valve, while runing it today i had the seat off and it wasnt ideling very well and i put my hand over the air intake and instantly it picked up in idel speed and reved great took my hand off it stumbels and give it gas it really lags/bogs then comes up.

 

check for an air leak. remove air filter, place you hand over the intake. then turn the kill switch on and hit the starter a couple times, long enough for the engine to turn over a couple times. this will create a vaccume in the intake. if the vaccume stays for 30+ seconds your good, but if it goes away after a few seconds then you have a leak.

if you have a leak tighten evarything along the intake

if you dont have a service manual, buy one! best investment in your ATV you can make IMO. if it is a float problem then the manual will tell you how to test and djust yourr float.

 

yes i have the service manual its really not as good as one might think. just my 2c

 

i buy clymer manuals, more informative than brand name manuals IMO. but only if you know what your looking for.

 

ok i did find a leak fixed it went for a test ride and it dies in 5th gear just running along doing good then bog and it shuts off.going to check some other things right now!
they didnt make one for my quad when i bought the manuel do they make one now?
