They came with the bike, and unforunately are Kawasaki Lime green, but I know for a fact that Krylon makes a great spray paint that adheres very well to this type of plastic, so, they are going to become white and blue in the near future to match the rest of the plastics...

Haha, sorry to bust all the myths about us being in igloo's and buried up to our necks in snow...we've had a "good" winter, and the temps are starting to be a little more tolerable, but rest assured I've seen my share of -20 degree days this year. I think GA is only about 18 hours from me, so maybe i'll just load the trailer up and head down for the day, haha...lots of dunes and awesome trails down that way (or so I have read...)</end quote></div>

Yeah, I've been in your neck of the woods a few times. I used to live in Toledo and we made it into Canada a couple times. I didn't see any igloos, but a few casinos and lots of shops and places to score a box of cubans.

Trails.... Yeah, we got trails! http://www.georgiaoffroad.com/map.php I'm up by the Chattanooga area, so not much in the way of dunes, but if you like mountain trails....

TN is even nicer. And don't even get me started on Colorado or Cali! But, North GA isn't such a bad place to be.

If that plastic is anything like the plastic that the fenders is made from, a good smack from a stick will flake it off. I'm currently in the process of repairing a few spots on my fenders that just peeled away after getting hit by rocks kicked up by the tires. I used either that kyrlon fusion paint or the rustoleum version with a top coat of polyurethane.

On the repair job I heavily scratched the surface with 40 grit sandpaper. The paint should hold now! But its a pain to get enough poly on it to sand it back down smooth without sanding thru the paint. I'll get it... Eventually.

There should be a pic of the original poly job in my pics page. Its pretty shiney!

hey man about those bars, look at protaper se's. theyre AMAZING quality, strength, and looks, and far better than the renthal counterparts.

but most importantly stay away from steel bars. they're too strong and will bend your steering stem in a good rollover, instead of just turning to mush like the aluminums do. and bars are way cheeper and way less of a pain in the *** to replace than a steering stem, especially for your bike (low chances of getting one used).

Thanks for the bar tips...wouldn't have thought about the steel bar bending the stem issue - good to keep in mind.

By the way Scotty, if you wanted, you can just replace the plastic part of the handguards. That way you wouldn't have to paint and it would only be like $20 or so I think.

You know what.... It just occured to me that those steering stems on the 230's are usually "repaired". A guy that used to post around here, Gforce, went for a ride one day after a installing a bunch of goodies. A few minutes into the ride the handlebars came right off! After he posted the story, we all went out to have a look and sure enough, all ours had been welded. So, I don't know if the 250 had an improved design or not, but it might be a good idea to take a peek under the goose-neck and see if there is a weld bead or not. If there isn't, maybe you should beef that up.

My stem was crooked as a dog's hind leg. I tried like hell to bend it back into shape, but those things are tough after they've been welded! So, I hacked it back apart and welded it true.

Ya, I just realized that as well...might be a lot easier, and look better considering the cost of that Krylon is about 10 or 12 bucks...might just do that. Just got back from the Suzuki dealer with my Pro Taper grips...these things are sweet! Can't wait to put them on!
