Exclamation K&N or uni??

I ride trails and mud. Ive heard people say the unifilter is better that k&n becuase it filters more. The k&n flows more air. Which one should I Buy. Vinson500.

well the general concensus on the age old debate of k&n vs uni is this:

in all out performance, k&n flows A LITTLE better.

however, as soon as a k&n gets wet, it becomes nearly useless.

for mud and wet applications, UNI IS SUPERIOR, however, for street and sand applications, k&n will offer a little better performance.

I prefer K&N! When used with a outwears cover and oiled properly they can't be beat. I have run K&N on everything from riding lawn mowers to diesel race trucks and have never had a issue! When used with a proper exhaust system nothing will flow more air more efficiently!

outwears go just so far.

they say they repel water, but they CAN get soggy.

and thats no fun.

I'd go with UNI undoubtedly...I have one for my LTR because I'd rather spend time riding than cleaning/oiling my filter constantly, especially in the spring when it's really wet and muddy.

My friend on the LTRcentral forums had a Velocity filter (same design as K&N, a little bit more flow) and you could see the dust that it let in, even when properly oiled.

I wouldn't risk it - the UNI offers better flow and better protection than the stock filter, and really offers peace-of-mind when you're riding on a muddy trail or whatever. I'd run a K&N in a street bike or a car... but not anything where it can get muddy or wet.
