Default Suzuki lt230s 1988 problem

I have had this quad for 4 years, no major issues with it, it is a great quad, always runs. last few times i have took it out, i will drive it for a little bit, and sometimes it seems to have no power, only for a bit, then it will kick in and speed away, it does this once in a while, i cant think of whats wrong besides spark plug or air filter, please give me some input thanks!

Sounds a bit like a clutch going south on you. Does the motor sound any different when it's acting up?

imo, bogging and sluggishness is usually a fuel issue ( either carb or fuel supply), and a sharp miss or cutting out is usually spark or electronic issues. i would definately check the carb out and petcock. has it been sitting? i have a bunch of old machines and am in the process of restoring them. on one of my dirt bikes, i kinda have the same problem. i finally found gunk in the petcock and it was restricting fuel flow. took it apart and cleaned it. no more problems.

i would go through the carb and also drain the fuel tank and check petcock opperation. make sure it doesn't have something plugging it up intermitantly.

where you turn the fuel on and off. it is called a fuel petcock. also, get a service manual. it will help you out a lot. pictures with descriptions.
