Default LT230S Mag Cover

I have an 1987 Quadsport 230S. I am having problems keeping the chain from jumping off an knocking the mag cover. I have replaced the cover twice now.

If anybody has any ideas let me know.

Thanks

Get a case saver for $4 from Bike Bandit. I think its bad swingarm and axle carrier bearings that cause that. Could be you don't have your chain tensioned correctly as well. The Suzuki manual says there should be 1.6-1.8 inches of play on the bottom of the chain.

You might also consider a new chain too.

No problem. I got the Primary Drive O-Ring Chain from Rocky Mountain for $40 or so and its really nice and pretty cheap.

YES YES YES!!! BINGO!!!

oring is the ONLY way to go with the 230!!!! it tracks much better and for some reason doesnt like to jump off nearly as much.

while youre at it, get new front and rear sprockets, just plain ol steel sunstars will do.

lastly, put your quad up on a stand and wiggle the **** out of the swingarm and axle. the front bearings take alot of force to make them move, but if they do, REPLACE THEM!!! and then lastly, check your axle bearings.

hope this helps

my 230 used to sling a chain and then i bought all the chain guides for it. the two on the rear skidplate really help out. when you put all four on and adjust your chain properly it wont come off (unless you get snagged on a stick in the woods). I run an X-ring chain with sunstar sprockets and havent slung one off in several years now.

FYI: adjust the chain slack with the rider on the machine. 1" is good.

yes, 1" is plenty. i never run much more than that.

and as far as the guides go, most important would be the lower chain "block" and the little round piece on the swingarm.

theyre only likt $5 each and easy to replace, so definatley do that while youre at it.

round guide - vince's cycle

lower block - have your local zuki shop order it for you, because the oem one is by far the best. for some reason its made of a much denser/harder material than the aftermarket ones and it lasts much longer.
