Question 2004 LTZ400 oil pressure?

New here, first post, questions for those smarter than me...

My '04 ltz400 has sat for the last 2 years. This past weekend I was able to kick it over after new fuel, plug, filter, and battery. I ran it for a few minutes to get fresh fuel flowing and then shut it down to change the oil. When I pulled the drain plug, oil shot out, as if it was pressurized.

New oil was put in, and the engine was ran for a few minutes again. I went to check oil level, when i removed the fill cap, the tank seemed to be pressurized agian. I am assuming i have a clog oil passage for filter.

My question is, has anyone had a similar problem? Can someone comment on where i should begin looking for the blockage?

TIA

I'd be looking for something blocking it up. Mine has never shot out oil like you're describing. Or even just a little bit for that matter.

Oh im sure that there is blockage somwhere. Could you suggest where to begin looking. Could it simply be a clogged filter?

Just in case....your not checking the oil with the motor running are you? If you are...stop it. If not, I'd say you need to replace your oil filter for starters. I'd also check for kinks in the oil lines.

Nope. not with the engine running. I have checked the for kinks/bends in the feed/return lines, and all seems well. I am assuming that there is blockage either in an oil passages of the bottom end, or the oil filter.

I'm quite experienced turning a wrench, but this is the first thing I've attacked with less than 4 cylinders, so excuse my ignorance. Thanks for the help
